Windows Phone store offers choice of 300000 apps
Microsoft today announced that the app catalogue on the Windows Phone store has grown to 300,000 apps.

The number of apps has nearly doubled in the past year. The store is starting to see rapid growth as the tally stood at 200,000 in December 2013 with 100,000 apps added in the last six months. In even better news for both Microsoft and Windows Phone users, the number of active developers has grown by 50%.

It’s not just the quantity of app developers that’s increasing, but also the quality. FitBit launched its fitness tracker app on the Windows Phone store last month, BlackBerry released a beta version of its BBM service, and Uber launched its app as well.

Microsoft updated its By The Numbers website with these statistics, which were accurate as of the end of June 2014. One figure to keep an eye on in the near future is the number of apps downloaded from the Windows Phone store. This currently stands at 250 million, but should rise in the near future with the addition of so many apps and developers.
