The latest Skype update adds multitasking on Android phones, so you can take a video call while continuing to work away on whatever you were doing.
Skype now displays incoming video calls as a picture-in-picture floating window, which you can display over whatever you are currently looking at. In this way, you can catch up on the latest news, keep working as needs be, or continue your game while you’re on a hot-streak, while still being social.
This feature has been available on Android tablet devices for the best part of a year. Android smartphone owners will be pleased to finally catch up.
Of course, you probably won’t get away with pretending to be focused on the conversation while still using your phone. After all, you will need to throw in filler noises at the right times, perhaps follow-up a statement with a question, and it’s quite likely that the other person on the call will notice your eyes shifting around the place.
Still, if you’d like to try out this feature for yourself, the latest version of Skype is available now via Google Play.
