Facebook Messenger is levelling up with new features that are currently being tested on Android.
For example, you could soon send SMS texts from within the app, bringing all of your communication together. This is a feature which is already common to competitors like Google Hangouts so it makes a lot of sense to include it in Facebook. Early reports suggest you would link a phone number to a person's Facebook account and their messages would all rest in the same place, with the texts differentiated by colour.
Facebook also confirmed it is working on bringing multiple user profiles so that you can swap between different users on the same phone or tablet. In a statement to Engadget they said: "Millions of people share phones with their family and friends. Until now, there hasn't been an easy way for people to access their individual Messenger accounts from shared devices. To address this, we've launched a feature on Android to enable multiple people to log in and use Messenger from a single phone."
It's not yet known when these new features will roll out to all users but they're clearly in a late testing phase right now.
