Colin Farrell tipped for True Detective Season 2 lead role
HBO President Michael Lombardo said that news regarding casting for True Detective Season 2 is imminent with Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch reported to be the front runners for the lead roles.

According to Lombardo, HBO is in conversations on the cast and should have announcements “in the next week.” TheWrap reports, thanks to a tipoff from “insiders,” that Farrell is nearing a deal for the series’ older lead role. Apparently, HBO is looking for a true movie star who could play rugged and gritty.

While both Garrett Hedlund and Taylor Kitsch have been rumoured for the other lead role, it is the latter who is apparently the front runner for the part. Kitsch has been a part of a HBO production in the past having played a young gay man in “The Normal Heart.”

Creator Nic Pizzolatto has indicated that there are four lead roles. Expect casting news very shortly.
