Doctor Who is coming back. Let's forget for a moment that his regeneration tally is straying a little from canon and revel in the fact that this long running show is making a return.
It's been a delightful reboot ever since Christopher Eccleston donned a leather jacket way back in 2005. 9 years later, series 8 is set to debut - which is actually the second 8th season of the show since it debuted in 1963. The whole thing could be described as a little confusing, but no more so than the criss-crossing time and space travels of the Doctor himself.
Peter Capaldi will be taking up the mantle for the first episode, taking over from Matt Smith. The first show is called Deep Breath and has a story by Steven Moffat. More interesting for fans of genre cinema the first two episodes have been directed by Sightseers and Kill List director Ben Wheatley.
The first full trailer for the series is up now, check it out.
Jenna Coleman returns as Clara (that age difference is pretty large, wonder how they're going to deal with that) and Matt Smith will feature in the first episode.
Doctor Who Series 8 kicks off with Deep Breath on the 23rd of August 2014.
