Breaking Bad was pretty good. I'm not even really being coy, I actually thought it was just fine, maybe because it took me a long time to get up to speed with the adventures of Jesse and Walt.
Still, the world created by Vince Gilligan is rich and deep and full of great characters, including Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman. And he's back for his own spin off show.
We'll get to see what dodgy attorney Goodman (then called James McGill) was up years before he met Walt and Jessie and you can get an idea of the kind of cases he'll be getting involved with in this new extended trailer.
It's looking good. Gilligan has confirmed that the timeline of Better Call Saul will take place before, during and after what we saw during Breaking Bad but more recent news suggests that our familiar leading characters, played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, won't make an appearance in the first series.
That could be an outright lie designed to make their eventual appearance a great surprise, or a good plan to let the new show find its own identity before falling into cameos to keep the audience interested.
Better Call Saul stars airing on AMC in the US on the 8th of February 2015.
