Hannibal Season 3 Trailer - Still the Prettiest and Weirdest Show on TV

If you've missed the Hannibal TV show so far, you're behind on something truly... unique.

While there was no reason to expect anything interesting from a TV adaptation of a story well-wrought in movies and books, creator Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) did something pretty spectacular with Hannibal - he made it good.

Partly that the incredible leading performances by Hugh Dancy as Will Graham andMads Mikkelsen as the ever mercurial Hannibal Lecter but it's also got some of the most startling visuals you'll ever see on TV and some truly brutal kills. And it's also really, really strange.

Despite low ratings for its second season, thankfully Hannibal was renewed for a third slice by NBC. And you can get your first morsel with this teaser trailer for the upcoming third series.

Dark stuff indeed. The next season will have elements of the novels Hannibal Rising and Hannibal and will focus on Will's increasingly desperate attempts to find Lecter, who fled to Europe at the end of the last season. Gillian Anderson will have a beefed up role this time around and it seems Will has a new lady friend in the form of actress Nina Arianda. The timeline will skip forward several years during the next season, bringing us in line to enjoy more familar characters like Francis Dolarhyde who will be played by The Hobbit's Richard Armitage.

Hannibal Season 3 will premiere on NBC in summer 2015.
