For anyone whoducked out after a few episodes of ABC's Agents of SHIELD I completely understand - it was dull and dire and already falling into the kind of patterns you expect in a third season of a network show. But it really did improve drastically. though you had to get through almost 20 episodes of dross before that happened.
Nothing can kill the Marvel though, so a second season was inevitable. And after the finale of series 1, I'm genuinely curious about where its heading for the future, especially in the wider context of the brave new world ushered in by Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The entire main cast will be back for season 2, including Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen and Chloe Bennet and there will also be some new faces, including the one and only Kyle MacLacklan. The Twin Peaks star is apparently up for the role of Skye's father - she's played by Chloe Bennet.
It's nice to have a face to look forward to in the next season but this plot-line, and Skye herself, led to some of the worst moments in Agents so far. Honestly, if feels like they would just be much better killing off the character and letting Gregg and Ming-Na kick ass every episode.
Who doesn't want to see that?
Agents of SHIELD is back on screens in September 2014.
