Game of Thrones season 5 won't be on screens until 2015 but we're already getting news on how the story is going to shape up. Basically, no more Bran or Hodor.
The news came directly from the big man himself, actor Kristian Nairn, who was chatting to Yahoo! News when he dropped this bombshell: "We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books. So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.”
Rave of Thrones is totally a real thing.
It seems the whole Bran storyline has pretty much reached its end for the moment - the HBO show has already covered everything George R.R. Martin has seen fit to publish so its time to take a bit of a break. And I honestly can't see anyone being upset by the news - Bran has had nothing to do for quite a while now and although I'm interested in seeing what finally happens with his weird powers that whole subplot was starting to get very tiring.
It's pretty clear that Game of Thrones could stand to be a bit more focussed so maybe we'll see more streamlining ahead of the new season. Of course it won't matter if they still introduce 100 new characters in the first episode. Either way, Martin better get writing or HBO will have to start making things up as they go along.
Game of Thrones: Season 5 will arrive in 2015.
