Ripper Street Production Company Posts Massive Losses

Ripper Street is the big BBC show about post Jack the Ripper London, shot on the streets of Dublin. Which is where you can find squalid Victorian London apparently.

Two seasons have been produced to date and the reviews have been generally decent, though the show was later cancelled and then renewed in a deal which sees Amazon picking up the bill for season 3, akin to what Netflix did for Arrested Development and The Killing.

Irish cast and crew benefitted hugely from the first two seasons but the company in charge, Ripper Street Productions ltd, has posted losses of €3.4 million to the end of April 2013. Apparently the director's fo the company think this is 'satisfactory' as htey have additional investment from shareholders to cover the shortfall.

Season 3 of Ripper Street is currently shooting in the UK before moving to Ireland where production will run til August. The episodes will debut on Amazon in 2015 before appearing on the BBC.
