The first season of HBO's True Detective turned heads for managing to nab Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in their star roles. And they're looking to get even more stars in for the second season.
Colin Farrell has been rumoured to be taking on one of the main roles - in this case a damaged man called Ray Velcoro. Taylor Kitsch could be a miltary vet who is also tortured (that's a theme here) and Mad Men's Elizabeth Moss is apparently in talks for a major female lead.
But the most recent casting news points to the darker side of the story, which will apparently be about the death of a corrupt mayor in a Californian town and the multiple agencies who come together to work on the case. And it looks might Vince Vaughn could be in the frame for the role of the big bad.
That's a lot of information to take in but The Wrap has its sources and says most of these deals are in the works right now. Creator Nic Pizzolatto is working on the scripts right now and they're trying to get a number of directors on board for the second season. With that cast, it isn't going to be a problem.
Expect True Detective Season 2 on HBO by late 2015.
