True Detective was some great TV and folks are already gearing up for the second season.
The cast has been long rumoured, with Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn confirmed a while back as taking on two of the lead roles - as a cop and criminal. The plot goes like this: "Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."
So who are the other two cops? Well we've finally got official confirmation from HBO that they'll be played by Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. She's Ani Bezzerides - a detective with uncompromising ethics which put her in harm's war. And he's Paul Woodrugh - a war veteran turned motorcycle officer.
There's also word that Kelly Reilly (Calvary) will play Jordan, who's married to Vaughn's baddie and is more than happy to get herself mixed up in his murky affairs.
That's quite the cast for a story which seems like it will be larger than that in the first series and while I don't think they'll manage to top the great interplay of Harrelson and McConaughey in the first season there's no doubting the production will be of ridiculously high quality.
Fast and Furious helmer Justin Lin is directing the first two episodes of True Detective Season 2 and the show will debut on HBO in 2015.
