TV3 is sixteen years old in 2014, and they've got some interesting times ahead with the launch of UTV Ireland planned for 2015. The new station will acquire the local rights for many of the shows which TV3 currently airs, meaning they'll have to generate plenty of new original content.
But before all that, they're refreshing their slate. It seems two existing shows are set to be cancelled - Midweek with Collette Fitzpatrick will be replaced by a current affairs program and FYI on 3e falls to make way for a new 60 second news format. It's going to be called 'The Thread.'
These changes are in addition to the need for home grown content which will include a new primetime slot for local stories. They haven't yet confirmed who will host the show, and happily none of the current presenters are being let go.
More new annoucements will come ahead of the autumn line up later in 2014.
