Fargo is a very awesome movie, one of the Coen Brothers best. But that doesn't necessarily mean it should make the transition to TV.
Thankfully then, that's not quite what's happened. Coming from American Horror Story channel FX, Fargo is more of a show inspired by the movie, and set in a very familar place. With very familar accents. And a new cast.
Martin Freeman stars as Lester Nygaard, an insurance salesman who's a little down on his luck. On account of being pretty crappy at selling insurance. In the show, he ends up getting involved with the sleek and seductive interloper Billy Bon Thornton - and we wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of wife kidnapping into the mix.
Some of that is foreshadowed in the first seven minutes of the first episode, which you can watch right here. Freeman's accent is actually pretty good.
Fargo the TV series debuts on FX on the 15th of April and on Channel 4 a week or two later.
